Locally Grown Food in Lake County


Brad Leibov of Liberty Prairie Foundation in Grayslake, Illinois presented at the December Board Meeting on the importance and the potential benefits of building a system of sustainable, local food in Lake County.

Local and sustainably produced food is a growing market and is becoming a priority at the federal, state, regional, county and local levels. Policies, plans and economic development programs are starting to include local food strategy and there is significant local and regional economic potential for Lake County.

Major Business Expansion


During 2013 we saw an increase in activity as Lake County Partners was involved in over 125 potential economic development projects. Lake County continues to be a desired location for business in 2013 as Ludlow Manufacturing, Laser Precision, Culligan, Harmon International Industries, Big Machines, and Zebra Technologies have chosen to either move into or expand in Lake County. Lake County’s labor force leads the Chicago region with a highly skilled, highly educated workforce.  More than 40 percent of our residents have obtained a bachelors degree or higher. In addition, our talent pipeline is strong.

Joseph Luna Appointed LCP Vice Chair


Joseph Luna, Senior Vice President of Commercial Banking with JPMorgan Chase was recently named Vice Chairman of Lake County Partners. Joe has twenty years of Commercial Banking experience at Chase and predecessor organizations. As a Senior Banker on Chase’s Illinois Middle Market team Joe provides recommendations on capital structure, international business and corporate objectives.

New Investment Grant


Lake County Partners was recently awarded new grants from the Union Pacific Foundation, the JP Morgan Chase Foundation, the AbbVie Foundation, the Walgreens Foundation, and the Fifth Third Bank Foundation to continue the implementation of Lake County’s Comprehensive Economic Development Strategy. These grants as well as the continued support of long time investors Lake County, First Midwest Bank, Baxter, ComEd, Takeda, Midwest Generation, Van Vlissingen & Co., and Comcast are critical to Lake County Partners’ efforts.
